Elk River man dies after being struck by vehicle in Morrison County

An Elk River bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday morning on a highway in Morrison County.

Around 3:54 a.m., a Jeep was traveling eastbound on Highway 27 in Pike Creek Township when it struck a bicyclist, who was laying in the lane, according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report. It is unknown why the bicyclist was laying in the lane of traffic on the highway.

The victim has been identified as Michael Alan Ostrom, 35, from Elk River. He was declared dead at the scene.

Police are investigating.
