Cyclist dies after being struck by vehicle in Carver County

A Carver man has died after he was hit by a vehicle while biking in Dahlgren Township last month.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office said 66-year-old John Robert Dyste died from the injuries he suffered in the Aug. 31 crash.

Authorities said Dyste was biking north on County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 40 where it transitions to CSAH 11. While he was crossing the intersection, a southbound vehicle driven by a 75-year-old woman turned left and struck him.

He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis but later died, the sheriff’s office said.

According to an autopsy report by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, Dyste died from complications to multiple blunt-force injuries on Sept. 8.

The crash remains under investigation.
