Barn in Otter Tail County destroyed by Christmas Eve fire, 1,000 goats killed

A family farm in Henning is trying to recover after a barn fire on Christmas Eve.

A Facebook post by the owners of Cornerstone Farms says they awoke at 3 a.m. on Christmas Eve to the orange glow of the fire coming from their barn.

They said the barn was a complete loss and all 1,000 goats inside, along with 15 peacocks and a pet dog, were killed. Two or three tractors and nearby hay were also destroyed.

"God gives and takes away, but God is still good. We are waiting to see His plan of whats next for us," the post says.

In a separate post, the farm said the best way to help is by donating via Venmo (Cornerstone-Farm) or PayPal (cornerstonefarms@gmail.com) to their Cornerstone Farm accounts.

It’s unclear what caused the fire. The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said it is currently investigating.

No people were injured in the fire.
