A tree branch fell and ultimately killed a 4-year-old girl at Land of Memories Park in Mankato Thursday night. 

According to the Mankato Department of Public Safety, at about 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the report of a tree branch that had fallen on an occupied tent in the park, located at 409 Amos Owen Lane.

Police located a 4-year-old girl with life-threatening injuries and began life-saving measures on her. The child was then transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Other family occupants in the tent were unharmed.
