2 people OK after ATV, fish house break through ice in Crow Wing County

Two people were able to reach shore safely after an ATV and fish house broke through the ice in Crow Wing County on Sunday.

According to the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, the ATV and fish house entered Platte Lake in the southeastern portion of the county at about 6:15 p.m.

The ATV and fish house remain in the water, the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Sheriff Scott Goddard issued a reminder to those wanting to venture out onto the ice that ice thickness varies and can change overnight. He asked people to be vigilant about checking ice thickness before they venture out.
