2 arrested in Moorhead disturbance involving a gun

Moorhead Police Department made two arrests involving a disturbance with a gun Wednesday evening. 

According to police, at 5:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of 16th Street South for a report of a disturbance involving a gun being pointed at someone. 

When officers arrived, they had learned that the male with the gun had gone inside the residence. Officers had made announcements and called out four adults from the inside of the house. 

Once officers entered the residence, they located two more adults hiding inside. 

Police stated that during the investigation, the incident was determined to be a domestic dispute before officers arrived on the scene. 

Courtney Smith, 31, was arrested for Domestic Assault-related charges and during a follow-up search of the residence, a stolen handgun was located inside. 

Travon Spears, 21, was arrested for 2nd degree Assault and Possession of Stolen Property in relation to the threat involving the firearm. 

According to police, there were no gunshots fired during this incident and no one was seriously injured. 

There is also no ongoing threat to the public. Police are not searching for anyone else involved in this incident.
