16-year-old critically injured in Meeker County crash

A Litchfield teenager suffered critical injuries in a crash that happened Friday evening in Meeker County.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 5:42 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 24 and 675th Avenue in Forest City Township.

Deputies learned a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old male, from Litchfield, collided with a vehicle driven by Dennis Plamann, 34, of Dassel. The teenager was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire and rescue personnel. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by Life Link helicopter with critical injuries.

Plamann was transported to St. Cloud Hospital by Life Link helicopter with injuries not considered to be life-threatening. Another passenger in the Litchfield teenager’s car, a 16-year-old from Watkins, was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

The accident remains under investigation. Alcohol is not a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
