UPDATE: Man in critical condition after north St. Paul shooting, woman in custody

A man is in critical condition after a woman shot him Monday night in north St. Paul.

According to the North St. Paul Police Department, at 9:51 p.m., officers responded to the 2300 block of 11th Avenue on a report of an assault in progress. Before officers arrived, they were notified a woman shot a man. 

Police said once officers arrived on the scene, they located the man unconscious not breathing inside the residence. Officers were able to locate the woman and take her into custody. The suspect was later transported to the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center, where she was booked for assault. 

The victim was transported to Regions Hospital for further care and is listed in critical condition, said police.
