The North Star State got some representation at the County Music Awards on Wednesday night.

Up on stage with country legend Reba McIntyre was none other than Minnesota singer Sailor Jerri.

True to her stage name, Sailor Jerri is a U.S. Navy veteran, and she dedicates much of her music to the troops. At the awards show, she was brought on stage to highlight her involvement Crown Royal's Purple Bag Project, a charity that sends the essentials to troops serving overseas.

"It was just over-the-top exciting," the Milaca native said. "I didn't ever expect to be there. I've only been doing music for a couple years, so it was overwhelming is maybe the best word."

Sailor Jerri said she got her start performing for veterans in long-term care at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System.
