May 22, 2019 10:27 PM

Hennepin Theatre Trust announced Tuesday that nine works of art will be featured in a new public art project entitled, 'It's the People.'

The project is inspired by the people whose experiences and stories create the uniqueness of Hennepin Avenue.

The project features fine art portraits on large-scale banners that will be displayed on five buildings between 5th and 10th Street in downtown Minneapolis. The locations include:

  • 33 South Sixth Street (City Center)
  • 710 Hennepin Avenue (Pantages Theatre)
  • 830 Hennepin Avenue (The Saloon)
  • 900 Hennepin Avenue (Hennepin Theatre Trust)
  • 10 South 10th Street (FAIR School)

The portraits are created by renowned Minnesota artists and feature the avenue's regulars, from business owners to transit workers to theatergoers.

The formal unveiling and celebration will take place on June 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hennepin Theatre Trust. For more information, click here.
