A Minnesota doctor working to cure or prevent Type 1 Diabetes is on a personal mission.
Dr. Jennifer McVean was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 11-years-old. She recently learned her youngest daughter, five-year-old Elizabeth, will likely develop it too.
Dr. McVean has three children. She has had them all tested through TrialNet. Elizabeth tested positive for an antibody indicating she could develop Type 1 Diabetes.
The little girl said she was happy to do the testing.
"I want to help my mom and other people stop getting diabetes," she said.
Her mom called the likelihood her daughter will develop the disease "devastating." As a researcher, Dr. McVean is hoping she can make a difference for her daughter and other children struggling with diabetes.
She believes testing through TrialNet can help.
