Flu-related illnesses remain widespread throughout the state of Minnesota, according to the latest report by the Minnesota Department of Health.

Eight people had died in the state due to flu-related illnesses as of Dec. 28, but that number has doubled to 16 as of Jan. 4. The average age of the 16 people who died due to a flu-related illness is around 80 years old, according to the MDH.
