The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a steep increase in sexually transmitted diseases in 2017.
According to the CDC, 2.3 million cases of Chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis were diagnosed in the U.S. in 2017, surpassing the 2016 number by more than 200,000 cases.

Gonorrhea diagnoses increased 67 percent overall in 2017 and primary and secondary syphilis diagnoses increased by 76 percent, CDC numbers show.
The most common diagnoses reported to the CDC remains to be Chlamydia, with more than 1.7 million cases diagnosed in 2017.
