1 ejected from vehicle in I-94 crash near Clearwater

The Minnesota State Patrol says it is investigating a crash that caused one person to be hospitalized Friday morning near Clearwater.

According to the agency, the crash happened at 9:52 a.m. Friday on eastbound Interstate 94, and involved two vehicles.

The State Patrol says the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a semi.

Authorities say one person was ejected and flown to an area hospital.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) reported traffic was extremely backed up on I-94 due to the crash. A 511 camera showed the crash happened on eastbound I-94 between Exit 178 and Exit 183.

A camera showed one vehicle was completely off the road, and multiple emergency crews at the scene.

Another camera showed traffic backing up on eastbound I-94 as crews worked to clear the scene.

Later Friday afternoon, the State Patrol identified the GMC Envoy’s driver as 37-year-old Corey Paul Anderson, of St. Cloud — he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Anderson sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The semi driver was identified as 48-year-old Corey David Mcgee, from Louisiana; he was wearing his seatbelt and uninjured.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the State Patrol said.

Earlier Friday, the MnDOT 511 traffic map showed dozens of crashes and spinouts in the region.
