Travelers in the northwest metro will need to find an alternate route to parts of Highway 10 this weekend due to construction closures.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will close both directions of Highway 10 in Anoka between Highway 47/Ferry Street and Seventh Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The closure will be between Highway 47/Ferry Street and Seventh Avenue.

Crews will be removing and replacing water mains, sanitary sewers and storm sewer utilities. Detour routes are in place using Highway 610, I-94 and Highway 101.

A stretch of Highway 10 in Elk River will also close. Highway 10 is set to close in both directions at the Highway 10/101/169 interchange starting at 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

Highway 10 is set to close in both directions at the Highway 10/101/169 interchange.

The closure is due to bridge removal over Highway 10.

The detour route for westbound traffic uses northbound Highway 169 to Sherburne County Road 33 and then back south on Highway 169 to reach westbound Highway 10.

The detour route for eastbound traffic uses southbound Highway 101 to Wright County Road 39/90th Street and back north on Highway 101 to reach eastbound Highway 10.

MnDOT suggests drivers traveling west of the Twin Cities should use I-94.
