Threat prompts closure of Chisago Lakes school Friday

District leaders with ISD 2144 say Chisago Lakes High School is closed Friday.

According to the district, the school was closed due to a threat.

A Chisago County Sheriff’s Office call report obtained by 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS states a threat involving a shooter at the high school was spotted on Snapchat Friday morning around 5:50 a.m.

Lakes Area police say, at that time, a concerned parent of a high school student reported the possible threat to police.

Police contacted the school, which was cleared and locked down around 8 a.m. Out of an abundance of caution, officials decided to close the school for the day.

Authorities say there weren’t any other threats associated with any other Chisago Lakes schools but a call report says the district is on alert at all other schools for the day.

The district also posted on Facebook at around 8:30 a.m. Friday, saying the Chisago Lakes elementary schools of Lakeside, Taylors Falls and Primary are opening two hours late Friday but didn’t give a reason for the delay. Parents were asked to check their emails for information.

The investigation remains active but police noted they haven’t found any credible information linking the alleged social media poster to Chisago Lakes High School.
