Teenager killed, another injured after crash in Waconia early Saturday morning

One teenager is dead and another was taken to the hospital after a crash in Waconia early Saturday morning.

Deputies from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office said that they responded to an injury crash just before 4:20 a.m. on Oak Avenue near Goldfinch Drive in Waconia Saturday.

The passenger, 16-year-old Anthony Michael Lewin of Waconia, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The 16-year-old driver was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

A news release from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office states that the two teens were northbound in a Toyota Camry and crashed into a parked payloader on the east side of the northbound traffic lane. The payloader had been marked with a traffic cone, according the news release.

The incident remains under investigation by the Carver County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
