Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle near Kennedy High School in Bloomington

Police say a 66-year-old man died after he was hit by a vehicle Saturday morning near Kennedy High School in Bloomington.

Around 5 a.m. a vehicle traveling westbound on 98th Street East near Second Avenue when it hit the man, who was standing out on the road. Witnesses told police the man was a passenger in a vehicle and had gotten out to pick up some items that had fallen out of the vehicle’s trailer when he was hit.

The victim, a Bloomington resident, was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead less than an hour later, police said. His identity will be released pending family notification.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 26-year-old Bloomington man, stopped at the scene and was cooperative. Police say there were no signs he was impaired.

This crash remains under investigation.
