MnDOT, WisDOT report pavement buckles from high temps, say more still possible

Roads could continue to buckle in areas due to high temperatures, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
As of Tuesday morning, MnDOT says most of the pavement buckles caused by recent high temperatures have been temporarily fixed, which means commuters can drive over those areas again.

“We do encourage drivers to use caution, avoid driving over a pavement buckle and safely switch lanes if possible to avoid the buckle,” said Anne Meyer, a spokesperson for MnDOT.
MnDOT expects to make more permanent road repairs in the coming weeks.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) also reported several pavement buckles Monday.
Within the northwest region, buckles occurred on Interstate 94 near Menomonie, U.S. Highway 35 near Eau Claire and Wisconsin Highway 29 near Chippewa Falls, said Christena O’Brien, a spokesperson for WisDOT.
Drivers should call 911 if they see any new pavement buckles.
