Man shot in leg, hand in St. Paul

St. Paul police are investigating a shooting that took place late Monday night.

According to St. Paul Police spokesperson Steve Linders, at about 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the area of University Avenue and North Asbury Street. Police found a Dodge Avenger with a bullet hole in it and 10 shell casings.

Then, at about 12:45 a.m., an officer went to North Memorial Hospital to talk to a male who had been shot in the leg and hand. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The shooting victim told authorities he was in the area listed above when two men allegedly approached him and one of the men then shot him. He called a family member, who drove him over to Robbinsdale, where he is being treated.

There are no suspects in custody at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
