Man injured in overnight Minneapolis shooting

Police say one man was shot during the overnight hours in the Near North neighborhood of Minneapolis.

According to Minneapolis police, officers were called to the 2700 block of Russell Avenue North shortly before 3 a.m. after ShotSpotter reported gunfire in the area.

When they arrived, officers found gunfire damage to three vehicles and a home, and found multiple casings.

Responding officers were notified by Brooklyn Park police of a man who had been hit by the gunfire. The man was currently at the 6300 block of Boone Avenue North.

Police then went to that address and found a man in his 30s who said he had been where officers initially responded to discuss the sale of a vehicle when the shooting happened. He reportedly then drove to Brooklyn Park.

The man said he would get his own medical care.

As of this time, no one is in custody.

Police tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS no one else was injured during the incident, adding no one was inside the vehicles at the time of the shooting. Police don’t know if anyone was inside the home that was hit by gunfire.

The incident is still being investigated.
