Wednesday, a mix of rain and sleet made driving conditions challenging during the morning commute and a messy evening commute is also expected.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that across the state, there were 157 crashes between 4-11 a.m. Wednesday. The agency added that one of those crashes caused serious injuries and 18 caused injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

In addition, a state patrol vehicle was rear-ended in Detroit Lakes; the agency reported no one was injured in that crash.

Chief Meteorologist Ken Barlow said the rain/snow mix is expected to continue throughout the morning, with snowfall expected late Wednesday afternoon into the evening.

Barlow said the sky will slowly clear late Wednesday night and Thursday will be a brighter, but cool day.

Rain mixed with snow will be possible on Friday night, but the weekend is looking mostly brighter and warmer than this past weekend, Barlow said.
