LIST: Veterans Day events, discounts throughout Minnesota

Veterans Day is Thursday this year.

Here is a list of events throughout the state to commemorate the day.

EVENTS

The official State of Minnesota Veterans Day Program will be held virtually again this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. A 30-minute recorded program will be available on the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs website starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

Bloomington: The renowned cadets of the West Point Glee Club—musical ambassadors of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY—will perform in the Rotunda at Mall of America from 5-6 p.m.

Chaska: At 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, an honor guard from Chaska VFW Post 1791 and American Legion Post 57 will raise the U.S. flag, followed by a 21-gun salute and taps at Chaska Middle School West.

Maple Grove: A Veterans Day Ceremony will take place Thursday starting at 9 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in Maple Grove Central Park.

Minneapolis and Minnetonka: At its locations Thursday, Holger Dental Group is offering dental services to veterans, including free cleanings, fillings, extractions and dental implants.

North St. Paul: The North St. Paul Veterans Park committee, along with the local VFW and Legion posts will host a program Thursday at the park, starting at 11 a.m.

Richfield: The Honoring All Veterans Memorial will hold a ceremony to recognize all veterans, including those newly added to the memorial site. The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. and those attending will be required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

Shakopee: A Veterans Day commemoration will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 at Shakopee American Legion Post 2.

Stillwater: The annual Veterans Day Ceremony in Stillwater will take place Thursday starting at 11:30 a.m. There will be guest speakers and music, event organizers stated.

St. Paul: Minnesotans can donate remembrance wreaths for the gravestones of more than 260,000 veterans at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Learn more here.

Willmar: The annual Veterans Day Observance will take place at the Willmar City Center. The three-day display will include military items from the Civil War through modern day and stories from veterans.

DISCOUNTS

Thursday, veterans can have a free meal from a limited menu at Applebee’s locations.

Buffalo Wild Wings is offering free boneless wings and fries for all veterans and active-duty service members.

Veterans and active duty military members can choose a complimentary meal from a select Chili’s menu on Veterans Day.

Veterans and active military can have a free meal at participating Crooked Pint Ale House locations.

At Dunkin’ Donuts, veterans and active duty military can enjoy a free donut.

All military personnel can receive a free Georgia Chopped Pork Sandwich at Famous Dave’s BBQ on Veterans Day.

Active military members and veterans can partake in a free meal at Golden Corral on Thursday from 5 p.m.-close.

Metro-area Hy-Vee stores are offering a free breakfast for veterans and active-duty military members from 6-10 a.m. All veterans and service members will receive 15% off their grocery purchases.

IHOP is offering a Red, White and Blue pancake breakfast for veterans and active-duty military members.

Between Nov. 11 and Nov. 14, veterans and active military members can receive a free Tavern Double Burger from Red Robin.

Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free item from a select Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery menu.
