Overnight police chase ends with 2 arrests

Police say two people are in custody after an overnight police chase in the metro area.

According to Brooklyn Park police, officers were sent to the 6500 block of 66th Avenue North at 12:40 a.m. Sunday for a report of a suspicious vehicle.

When they arrived, police say they approached the vehicle and suspects and also heard what was described as a “metallic sound” fall to the pavement, and the vehicle left the scene.

The vehicle was found by other officers in the area of 65th Avenue North and Welcome Avenue North, and although they tried to stop it, the vehicle continued, causing a chase.

The chase then entered Brooklyn Center, where it was eventually stopped near Brooklyn Boulevard and I-694.

That’s where police say two people were arrested, and officers found tools used to remove catalytic converters.

Police say a gun was found in the area where officers first found the vehicle and suspects.
