Infant, woman accused of abducting him found safe

UPDATE 9:20 a.m. – Authorities say formal charges are pending and a woman will be extradited to Minnesota after allegedly abducting her son Tuesday in Shakopee.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Zenitra Lee and 9-month-old Jahki Forester were found just after 5 a.m. Wednesday in Hager City, Wisc.

They were found unharmed by members of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, authorities say.

Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen says his department is still investigating the incident.

The following statement regarding the abduction in an update Wednesday morning:

“This matter is still under investigation, and we know that people have a lot of questions about this incident. Many of these questions will be addressed in the charging documents.”

UPDATE 8/31 8 a.m. – The Scott County Sheriff’s Office says a child, as well as his mother – who they say abducted him Tuesday in Shakopee – have been found safe.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, 9-month-old Jakhi Forester and 26-year-old Zenitra Lee (also known as Zenitra Forester) were found safe Wednesday morning.

Authorities didn’t specify the time or location they were found.

Additional information is expected to be provided Wednesday morning.

INITIAL REPORT 8/30 – Authorities in Scott County are asking for help finding a 9-month-old child who they say was abducted by the mother Tuesday afternoon in Shakopee.

The child, Jakhi Forester, was believed to have been removed from protected custody by the child’s mother, 26-year-old Zenitra Lee, according to an alert from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The pair was last seen at the Scott County Government Center in Shakopee.

The mother, who also goes by Zenitra Forester, was seen wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt, black pants, a gray head covering and a black shoulder bag. She is described as a 5-foot, 8-inch Black woman who weighs approximately 142 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

Jakhi was wearing a red-and-white Mickey Mouse onesie, according to the BCA.

Anyone who sees either the mother or the child is asked to call 911 or the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at 952-496-8423.
