Woodbury police pursuit ends with crash in Minneapolis, suspect arrested

A suspect was taken into custody following a police pursuit that ended with a crash in Minneapolis on Saturday afternoon.
Woodbury police said that at 1:29 p.m., they were alerted to a vehicle being driven by someone with multiple felony warrants for assaultive behavior.
Officers attempted a traffic stop on the car; however, the driver fled from police, causing law enforcement to initiate a vehicle pursuit.
The driver ended up crashing the vehicle as it entered Minneapolis on I-94 and then tried to carjack another vehicle, but he was arrested by authorities. There were no injuries to anyone from the public, according to the Woodbury Police Department.
Traffic cameras from the Minnesota Department of Transportation showed lanes full and slow-moving near the Pellham Boulevard overpass as the crash and arrest unfolded.
The driver, a 45-year-old man, was taken into custody for felony threats of violence, fourth-degree assault, two counts of fleeing in a motor vehicle and obstruction.
He is currently at Regions Hospital and will then be taken to Washington County Jail.
The Minnesota State Patrol and St. Paul Police Department assisted in the incident.
