Two teens injured after shooting, robbery in Minneapolis Sunday night

Minneapolis police say they are investigating a shooting and a robbery that sent two teenagers to the hospital Sunday night.

The two incidents happened within minutes of each other around 7:15 p.m., and the two victims were found just over half a mile apart, according to police.

Officers said they responded to shots fired near the intersection of Fremont Avenue North and North 42nd Avenue just before 7:15 p.m. Police then found a boy in his mid-teens near 33rd Avenue North and North Girard Avenue who was reportedly injured during a robbery. He was taken to the hospital.

Police say they were also responding to reports of shots fired near 33rd Avenue North and North Girard Avenue when they received reports of a shooting victim found near North 27th Avenue and North Humboldt Avenue, just over half a mile away.

Arriving officers then found a girl in her mid-teens with a gunshot wound. She is expected to survive.

The girl reportedly told police that she was walking when she was shot, then ran away to call 911.

Investigators say they are “working to determine if the incidents are related” and what led to both incidents.

No arrests have been made.
