An organization that helps Minnesotans experiencing homelessness is getting a boost financially.

American House in Saint Paul’s in the Lowertown neighborhood helps people get off the streets.

Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative said it’s receiving a nearly $100,000 federal grant from the city of St. Paul to help at American House during the COVID crisis.

"It’s challenging as the economy turns down," Beacon CEO/President Lee Blons said. "We rely on charitable gifts and those are more challenging in these times, so we’re really greatful for that ongoing support.",

American House has been around for 30 years and has about 70 apartments.
