Stillwater police asking for help finding suspect connected to vehicle theft

The Stillwater Police Department is asking for residents to call if they have any information about a recent vehicle theft while a child was inside the vehicle.

Police are trying to identify a possible suspect shown in the photo at the bottom of this article, which was taken from “nearby home security footage.”

Officers set up a perimeter and searched for the suspect after the theft occurred around 9 a.m. Wednesday near the 1400 block of Lydia Circle.

They found the 1.5-year-old child and vehicle shortly after behind a business on the 1700 block of Washington Avenue, but they say the suspect is still at large.

There is no perceived threat to the public at this time. No weapons were used, and there were no reports of assault, according to police.

Anyone who lives in the Highland or Benson Development area who may have information or security camera footage should call Investigator Dave Wulfing at 651-351-4918. It is likely witnesses would have seen anything between 8:45-9:30 a.m.

The Stillwater Police Department posted the most recent update Thursday afternoon.
