Shooting leaves victim critically injured in north Minneapolis

One person is critically injured after he was shot Wednesday afternoon in the Willard-Hay neighborhood of Minneapolis.

A city spokesperson said the shooting happened around 12:29 p.m. near North Penn Avenue and Golden Valley Road.

A suspect ran away from the scene, and the victim was taken to the hospital in “extreme critical condition,” the spokesman said.

Police have not announced any arrests in the case.

In an update Thursday morning, police said the victim was a 15-year-old boy, but did not provide any other details.

Minneapolis Public Schools said Wednesday evening that one of its students had been shot, but did not specify where the incident took place.

The shooting remains under investigation.
