Shakopee man charged with sexually touching several kids

A Shakopee man is facing criminal charges that he inappropriately touched multiple kids between 2011 and 2017.

Servando Suarez Rivera, 41, has been charged by a warrant with four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 13 years of age and one count of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to a criminal complaint, a Scott County deputy responded to a report of criminal sexual conduct on April 25. A 20-year-old woman told the deputy she was sexually abused by Rivera when she was 8 years old, saying he touched her in inappropriate areas in 2010 and also a few years later.

The woman said she had also been told in February by a second person that Rivera also made her “do things.”

The second victim, who is currently in fourth grade, said she was playing with other kids when Rivera separated her and inappropriately touched her multiple times when she was 4 or 5 years old.

While a detective follow-up on the allegations, the complaint states the detective learned the second victim had told a classmate, whose mother then reported it to a teacher, who then told the school social worker. The school social worker then met with the second victim, who identified a third victim that said Rivera inappropriately touched her when she was 4 or 5 years old in the same situations as the second victim.

The complaint states the detective learned Rivera’s wife used to run a pseudo day care, and the assaults took place during that time frame. However, the victims said Rivera always waited until his wife was busy or out of view.

Rivera was not in custody as of Friday morning.

Each of the second degree sexual conduct charges carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, a $35,000 fine or both. Meanwhile the fifth degree sexual conduct charge carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail, a $3,000 fine or both.
