Road construction will pose a headache this Mother’s Day Weekend in the Twin Cities area.

There are several major construction projects this weekend, including:

  • In Anoka – Highway 10 is closed in both directions between Hwy 47/Ferry St. the 7th Ave. 10 PM Friday to 5 AM Monday.
  • In Stillwater – Hwy 36 is closed in both directions at Manning Ave. due to bridge construction 7 PM Friday to 5 AM Monday.
  • South of Downtown Minneapolis – 35W SB is closed from I-94 to 46th St. – the NB lanes will be open. SB lanes are closed from 10 PM Friday to 5 AM Monday.
  • In the Eagan/Bloomington area – 494 EB closed between Hwy 5 and 35E – WB closed between Pilot Knob Rd and 35E from 9 PM Friday to 5 AM Monday.

MnDOT says mother nature is partly to blame, as the rainy April month delayed some projects for weeks.

“Unfortunately, we’re in Minnesota, and we don’t have very long periods of time we can do these lane closures with paving and concrete because temperatures don’t allow us to do that,” said Kirsten Klein with MnDOT.
