Polk County: One dead after ATV rollover

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has released details about a fatal ATV crash that occurred on April 21.

The sheriff’s office says that at approximately 8 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an ATV crash that occurred on 168th Street in the Town of Apple River. When first responders arrived on the scene they found a 67-year-old Isanti man unresponsive next to a rolled-over ATV.

First aid was provided before the man was flown to Regions Hospital, where he later died, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release, preliminary information indicates the driver of the ATV lost control after entering a soft shoulder of the road and received “severe injuries to his head.” The ATV operator was not wearing a helmet.

The incident is being investigated by the Wisconsin DNR and Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
