Police: Overnight looting in south Minneapolis leads to arrests

Shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, Minneapolis police officers responded to the area of East Lake Street and 21st Avenue South on a report of a business being looted.

Preliminary information from Minneapolis police says that five to six vehicles full of people arrived at the business and started stealing items.

When police arrived they found several people running from the business being chased by security.

A 19-year-old and a 20-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Hennepin County Jail. Officers also apprehended a 14-year-old girl; she was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. No other arrests were reported.

Police say “some” of the stolen merchandise was recovered but did not specify the value of goods taken.
