Nonprofit My Very Own Bed raises nearly $76,000 with the help of bluegrass

A local nonprofit kicked off their 9th Annual Beds and Bluegrass Fundraiser to raise money so every child has their own bed to sleep in.

Nearly 400 people packed into the Ukrainian American Community Center to show their support for the organization My Very Own Bed.

A live band kept people entertained and during a panel — where parents and community partners shared stories about the organization changing lives.

“I just think it’s such a great organization,” said Megan Doberstein, who attended the fundraiser. “These kids are in such a tough spot moving from home to home or without a bed. We just love to come out and support.”

The nonprofit raised nearly $76,000, breaking their $75,000 goal.
