Minnesota Zoo welcomes camel calf

The Minnesota Zoo is celebrating the arrival of a new camel calf that was born last week.

The zoo says the male Bactrian camel was born on Feb. 8 and is now spending time with his mother, Jenny.

The calf, which already is over 145 pounds and nearly 5 feet tall, will be introduced to the rest of the herd in the coming weeks.

According to the Minnesota Zoo, Bactrian camels are one of the few animals native to the Gobi desert.
