Man arrested for violating protection order in Chisago County

A North Branch man is in custody after police say he violated an order for protection.

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy served an order for protection on a 36-year-old man at around 6:20 p.m. Monday.

Less than half an hour later, the person who petitioned for the order for protection against the man called dispatchers, saying the man told her he was coming to her home in Lent Township.

The caller later told dispatchers that the man had arrived at the home, rammed his vehicle into another vehicle in the driveway, had fired shots from an AR-15-style rifle and was wearing a bulletproof vest.

Deputies responded and found the man in the driveway. He was arrested for violating the protection order and assault, and was booked into the Chisago County Jail.

Several other departments, including North Branch, Wyoming and Lakes Area police, as well as the Minnesota State Patrol, helped with the arrest.
