Man arrested after firing gun outside Columbia Heights apartment building

Authorities say no one was injured after a man allegedly fired a gun outside of his apartment building late Monday afternoon in Columbia Heights.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to the 3900 block of Fifth Street Northeast just before 5:15 p.m. for a report of shots being fired in the area.

The investigation showed that a 31-year-old Columbia Heights man exited the building, fired shots into the air and then re-entered the building.

When officers arrived, they created a perimeter and attempted to contact the man, who later left the building on his own before being arrested.

No other details regarding the incident were immediately available.
