Man airlifted after being injured in home explosion near Alexandria

A man was injured by an explosion inside his Holmes City residence on Tuesday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The report of an explosion inside a home was first received at about 11:51 a.m. on Tuesday. Deputies say the homeowner, a man in his 60s, was the only one inside and that he was injured in the explosion.

The injured man was treated by EMS at the scene and then airlifted for further medical treatment by Life Link III, the news release states.

The incident is currently being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
