Handgun recovered from 16-year-old at Harding High School in St. Paul Wednesday

A handgun was found on a 16-year-old male student Wednesday afternoon at Harding High School , according to law enforcement.

St. Paul police say they were called to a report of a weapons complaint around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

A 16-year-old boy was located inside the school office with a handgun in his waistband, according to police. The teen was agitated, and school security had handcuffed him before police arrived.

According to a St. Paul police spokesperson, officers learned the gun was seen sticking out of the student’s waistband by school security.

Police say school staff and security personnel struggled with the male before gaining control and handcuffing him. No one was injured in the incident.

The 16-year-old male was arrested, and police say the handgun had been previously reported stolen out of St. Paul. The incident remains under investigation.
