Freeport man dead after being found unresponsive in grain bin

Authorities say a Freeport man is dead after he was found unresponsive in a grain bin in Stearns County.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, multiple agencies were called to a home on the 32000 block of Oakland Road in Oak Township shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday after the caller said a 34-year-old man was found inside the bin by a family member.

Although life-saving efforts were made at the scene, the man died at Centra Care Hospital in Melrose.

The sheriff’s office identified the man as Thomas Holdvogt.

An exact cause of death will be determined following an autopsy.
