Electric company worker run over by skid loader, killed in Montgomery Township

An electric company employee died Tuesday morning after an accident in Montgomery Township.

The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and medics were called to the area of State Highway 99 and County Road 140 at around 9:12 a.m. The caller reported that a worker had been run over by a skid loader.

The sheriff’s office says Minnesota Valley Electric Company (MVEC) was working on the electrical power line system at the time. A skid loader was carrying 23-year-old Tanner Korey Dosch, an MVEC employee, in the bucket when it ran over his harness rope, pulled him from the bucket and then ran him over.

Employees immediately provided aid until medics arrived. However, Dosch was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Working as a lineman is an honorable profession. Our linemen work in potentially dangerous situations every day,” Ryan Hentges, MVEC’s CEO, said in a statement. “Today that danger became all too real. Tanner was a valued member of our team. This is a very sad time, and Tanner’s family is in our thoughts and prayers.”

The accident is under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. MVEC said it is working with the State Patrol to investigate what led to the incident.
