Brooklyn Park man, prior felon, federally charged for machine gun possession

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Minnesota has announced an indictment against Markyse Maurice Wells for possession of a machine gun and possession of a firearm as a felon.

Wells, 24-years-old from Brooklyn Park, was arrested after fleeing from a Robbinsdale Police traffic stop in March of this year.

Upon searching his vehicle, officers found a Glock handgun with an ‘auto sear’, a device that modifies the firearm to shoot fully automatic, and makes what is considered a machine gun under federal law.

Wells was prohibited from being in possession of any firearms or ammunition due to previous felony convictions in Hennepin County.

This case was investigated as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods by the ATF and Robbinsdale Police.
