Prayer for Peace event to be held at Basilica of St. Mary in support of Ukraine

Leaders of the Basilica of St. Mary say a prayer service in support of Ukrainians will be held Sunday afternoon, and all are welcome to attend.

According to Basilica leaders, the Prayer for Peace vespers service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the church.

The event will include music by a group of singers and scripture reading.

Those in attendance will pray for peace, and also reject war and violence.

Parking will be available on the west side of the Basilica under the freeway, as well as the in Minneapolis College ramp located to the east.

Basilica officials say the event will be held in-person and also streamed.

The event coincides with the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) plan to light the Interstate 35W bridge in blue and yellow as a show of support to the Ukrainian people as Russia continues to invade the country.
