3 arrested after shots fired in Brooklyn Center

Three people were arrested Monday night after a meetup went awry in Brooklyn Center.

Brooklyn Center Police said officers responded to the area of Interstate 694 and Shingle Creek Parkway just after 7:20 p.m. for a weapons complaint.

While responding, the 911 caller said they were following a vehicle that was actively shooting at them.

When police found both vehicles near I-694 and County Road 81 in Brooklyn Park, officers spoke to the two people in the vehicle that called 911. Those victims told police they had gone to the old Target parking lot to buy shoes from someone, but when they got into the seller’s vehicle, one of the occupants pulled out a gun and then stole $400 and a gun from the victim.

The victim also said the seller shot at his car.

When police spoke to the alleged suspects, they claimed they were meeting up with the victims to sell them marijuana, and the victims pulled a gun on them and then fired shots at their car while driving away.

Police said both vehicles had bullet damage but nobody was injured. One gun was recovered.

Officers arrested three men — one in his 20s, and two in their 30s.

The incident is still being investigated.
