MDH flu report: 2 hospitalizations, 1 school outbreak

Thursday marked the first Minnesota Department of Health flu report of the season. In it, two hospitalizations were reported in the last two weeks, as well as one school outbreak of influenza.

According to the weekly influenza and respiratory illness activity report, the most common strain early in the season appears to be influenza B.

The two hospitalizations happened in the central and metro part of the state. The median age at the time of admission is 88.5, according to MDH.

No new deaths have been reported in association with influenza.

Seasonal influenza activity in the United States remains low as of Thursday, with Minnesota at a minimal level.

MDH did not report the location or name of the school with an outbreak.
