Nurses in Minnesota are in short supply, and Concordia University in St. Paul has a new innovative program designed to help fill the shortage.

The university launched an Accelerated Bachelor of Nursing Program, which takes just 16 months to complete.

The program is designed to help quickly fill the need for nurses in Minnesota.

"It is a calling," Nursing Program Chair Kendra Saal said. "It’s not just for anybody to just go into to. You have to have that passion and that care and drive to do it and to be successful at it."

The demand for nurses is strong. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics lists nursing as one of the top occupations in terms of job growth.
