HealthPartners doctor: Future steps crucial in combating COVID-19 in state

In comparison, Minnesota is not experiencing some issues other states have endured during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically the recent increases in cases. 

One local health expert says the steps Minnesota has taken have helped, but the next steps taken will continue to make the real difference.

"We aren't entirely helpless with this. We have the ability to control the distance between us and the person who's standing next to us," said Dr. Mark Sannes, senior medical director for medical specialties at HealthPartners. "We also have the ability to wear a mask and encourage others to wear a mask. These are things that are really simple and really effective at preventing spread."
