A series of mislabeled soup cups have been recalled due to fire and burn hazards.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Lotus Foods rice ramen noodle soup cups were recalled Thursday because the cup's labeling incorrectly instructs users to heat the cups in the microwave, which poses fire and burn issues.

The report states the recall includes the following:

  • Red Miso Rice Ramen Noodle Soup, with UPC code 7 08953 65101 9
  • Masala Curry Rice Ramen Noodle Soup, with UPC code 7 08953 65102 6
  • Tom Yum Rice Ramen Noodle Soup, with UPC code 7 08953 65103 3

Lotus Foods representatives have reported one case of a minor burn as a result of the mislabeled cups. Representatives also said the cups can become extremely hot and can spark or catch fire during microwaving.

The report indicates the soup cups have been sold at Whole Foods Market stores, Safeway stores and online at Amazon and the Lotus Foods websites.

Those who have purchased the products are advised to stop using the cups and contact Lotus Foods for a replacement product coupon.
