Iconic Minnesota truck stop to have new owners

The iconic Clearwater Travel Plaza located in Clearwater will no longer be owned by the Nelson family for the first time in its history. 

According to a release, Joel Nelson, a second-generation owner of the business has agreed to sell the business to Dave Olson of Clear Lake. 


Olson also owns a handful of convenience stores and two other truck stops in central Minnesota. 

"I've had my eyes on the travel plaza for years. It's extremely well-known, has a great reputation and has been running successfully for decades," said Olson. "My family and I are excited for this new opportunity and look forward to being a part of the Clearwater Travel Plaza family" 

Olson ensures that everything loved about the travel plaza will remain, including the much beloved excessivly large bakery items.
